Google Fi will no longer support phones if they don’t have VoLTE beginning January

This week, Google Fi began to notify its customers that it will no longer activate any smartphones that don’t offer support for VoLTE. The change signals T-Mobile readiness to phase out 3G and repurpose the spectrum as part of its 5G rollout plan and since Google Fi is an MVNO, it needs to do the same. As first reported back in July, T-Mobile will cease to activate devices that can’t make calls with VoLTE (Voice over LTE).
